The Management of Dangote Refinery has refuted a claim that the corporation hired 11,000 competent workers from India while supposedly ignoring young people from Nigeria and other African nations. The claim was made on the web platforms of several media companies.

Anthony Chiejina, the Group’s Chief Branding & Communications Officer, responded to the publications by claiming that the report was created with malicious intent because it underreported the number of skilled Nigerians there.

According to him, the size of the project necessitated a specialised skilled workforce from all over the world. While over 30,000 Nigerians were employed among the skilled workforce at the height of the Refinery complex’s construction, 6,400 Indians and 3,250 Chinese workers were also among them.

He also said Nigerians on the project demonstrated a high level of technical competence as many hidden skills were discovered among them.

Chiejina advised the public to discountenance such malicious and twisted reports, and instead, focus on the potential impact of the project on the overall economy, and well-being of Nigerians.

He said Dangote Group continued to be the leading light in employment generation.
