INEC Declares Uzodimma As Winner Of Imo Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Imo State Governorship Election.

Uzodimma defeated his opponents in all Local Government Areas of the State.

The State Collation Centre in Owerri, the state capital, began collating results at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Prof. Abayomi Fashina, vice chancellor of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti, served as the state’s return agent for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The election was keenly contested between Uzodimma, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP).

Uzodimma polled a total of 540,308, while Anyanwu scored 71,503 and Achonu garnered 64,081.

The Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party have called for a total cancellation of the poll.

Below are the top five results in the state election:

Hope Uzodimma (APC): 540,308 votes.

Samuel Anyanwu (PDP): 71,503 votes.

Athan Achonu (LP): 64, 081 votes.

Tony Ejiogu (APGA): 6,392 votes.

Jack Ogunewe (AA) : 5,756 votes.
