In a decisive effort to alleviate the persistent traffic congestion plaguing the Cele Bus Stop-Tincan Port corridor, the Lagos State Government has issued a directive for the immediate cessation of indiscriminate parking by tankers and trailers along the aforementioned axis.

The directive, announced by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, in a statement on Wednesday, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the mobility experience for residents and commuters by ensuring a clear and unobstructed road network.

The statement read, “The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, said the directive underscores the commitment of the state government to ensuring the smooth flow of traffic and minimising disruptions caused by the persistent presence of these heavy-duty vehicles in the specified location, saying the order aims to enhance the overall mobility experience for residents and commuters in the affected area.

“Prioritising the safety and well-being of the public, the government emphasises the importance of a clear and unobstructed road network, urging tanker and trailer drivers to comply with this directive or be sanctioned in line with the State Transport Reform Law.”

By eliminating the disruptive presence of heavy-duty vehicles illegally parked within the designated corridor, the Lagos State Government aims to optimize traffic flow and address the long-standing challenges faced by commuters, including extended travel times and reduced accessibility to public transportation.

Furthermore, the directive prioritizes the safety and well-being of the public by emphasizing the importance of a unimpeded road network. Compliance with this initiative is expected, and non-adherence will result in repercussions as outlined in the State Transport Reform Law.
