Tragedy struck the Nigerian entertainment industry today as news had earlier emerged that popular Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, along with three other actors, lost their lives in a devastating boat accident.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, sent shockwaves throughout the country’s film community. Junior Pope, known for his charismatic performances and infectious personality, had endeared himself to audiences with his memorable roles in numerous blockbuster movies.
The news of his death was shared on Wednesday, April 10, by filmmaker, Samuel Olatunji.
He mentioned that the actor, along with three others, tragically lost their lives when their boat capsized.
“Four actors including Jnr Pope fell into Anam River on their way to a location and their bodies have been recovered.
“What a sad day for Nollywood. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” Olatunji wrote on his Instagram page.
However, a video posted on a popular blog, Gossip Mill, revealed that Junior Pope, was rescued in time as he was rushed to a hospital.
