The Rivers State Police Command has warned residents about a possible large gathering by the Neo-Black Movement (NBM), also known as Aiye or Black Axe.

According to a statement released on Saturday by spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, the group is planning a nationwide Founder’s Day celebration on Sunday, July 7th. The celebration, code-named “AIYE Day” or “7/7,” is expected to take place particularly in universities and colleges across the country.

The statement highlighted the NBM’s history of violence, including killings on campuses, clashes with rival groups, and other criminal activity.

“We are concerned that this event could lead to violence between rival cult groups or the forced initiation of unsuspecting victims,” Iringe-Koko said in the statement. “There is also a potential risk of crimes like rape and armed robbery.”

The Rivers State Police advised residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
