Akpabio Apologizes Amid Controversy Over “Nightclub” Comment and Extramarital Allegations

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, on during plenary on Tuesday, made a public apology to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi central, addressing a recent controversy stemming from his remarks about “Nightclub” and accusations regarding his marital status.

The saga began when Gistloversblog alleged that the Senate President is engaged in extramarital relationships with several celebrities, including Hilda Baci, Dakore Akande, and Nancy Isime, among others. These claims sparked intense public scrutiny and fueled a storm of media coverage.

Speaking on the floor of the red chamber on Tuesday, Akpabio said he would never intentionally denigrate any woman.

The senate president said his phone and that of his wife have been bombarded with calls and text messages, most of them insults.

“I will not intentionally denigrate any woman and I always pray that God will uplift women,” he said.

The comment, initially made in what was believed to be a lighthearted context, drew sharp criticism and led to demands for an apology.

Furthermore, Akpabio responded directly to allegations regarding his marital status. He revealed that the fallout from these accusations had taken a heavy toll on his personal life.
