The Lagos State Government has announced a 90-day traffic diversion on the Odo Iya Alaro Bridge, starting from Monday, July 22, 2024.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the diversion is necessary due to the deplorable state of the asphalt pavement and expansion joints on the bridge.

The diversion will be carried out in two phases, with alternative routes mapped out for each phase. For the first phase, motorists heading to Ojota from Maryland/Yaba will be diverted into a counter flow on the lane inbound Maryland, while those heading to Yaba from Ojota will continue their journey on the same lane.

Motorists from Berger, Magodo, and Tollgate along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway are advised to use the Alapere/Ogudu axis to access Ikorodu Road, while those from Ikeja, Oregun, and Kudirat Abiola Way should use the Opebi Link Bridge to connect to Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way. Motorists from Jibowu are advised to use the Ikorodu Road Service lane by Mobil Fuel Station to access the Gbagada/Ogudu axis.

The diversion is expected to last for 90 days, and motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly to minimize inconvenience. The Lagos State Government has assured that the repairs will improve the safety and durability of the bridge.
