Idris Elba to Star In New TV Series Based on Chinua Achebe’s Masterpiece, “Things Fall Apart”
A TV series based on Chinua Achebe’s seminal novel “Things Fall Apart” is in development at A24, with Idris Elba set to star and executive produce.
Elba’s production company, 22Summers, will produce alongside Yoruba Saxon and Achebe Masterworks.
This adaptation will bring to life the story of Okonkwo, a fearless African warrior navigating British colonization and cultural disruption.
Considered one of the greatest novels ever written, “Things Fall Apart” has been translated into over 60 languages and won numerous awards.
This latest adaptation follows previous film and miniseries iterations, including a 1998 miniseries starring Pete Edochie as Okonkwo.
With Elba at the helm, this new series promises to deliver a powerful and poignant portrayal of Achebe’s timeless classic. No writer or streaming platform is currently attached, but A24 is set to produce.
