In a recent case that is leaving several shocked, a woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra is allegedly seeking a divorce from her husband just 40 days after their marriage, citing his lack of daily bathing as the reason.
She claims that he only bathes once or twice a month, resulting in an unpleasant body odor.
The woman approached the family counseling center in Agra, expressing her inability to live with someone who has such poor hygiene.
When questioned by officials, the husband revealed that he typically bathes only once or twice a month and uses Gangajal (water from the River Ganga) once a week for cleansing. Despite his wife’s insistence, he bathed six times during their short marriage.
According to a counselor at the family center, the couple began having intense arguments shortly after their marriage, leading the woman to move back to her parents’ home.
Following this, her family lodged a dowry harassment complaint at a local police station and requested a divorce, reported IndiaToday.
After discussions with the police, Rajesh agreed to improve his hygiene and commit to daily bathing. However, his wife remains unwilling to reconcile. The couple is scheduled to return to the counseling center on September 22 for further resolution.
