Actress and businesswoman, Liz Anjorin, has expressed respect for veteran gospel singer, Tope Alabi, despite the latter’s decision to shun a surprise birthday event organised for her.

In an interview with THE PUNCH, Anjorin maintained that the situation would not affect her admiration for Alabi stating, “I have a lot of projects I am working on for me to be dwelling on what my sister (Alabi) has done. It has nothing to do with my personal life. People that hold grudges would not be able to move on and be productive. Do you think because she did not honour me yesterday, I will not greet her when I see her? I will still greet her with my two knees on the floor. Whatever she has done is between her and God.”

On Friday, a controversy erupted after the singer declined to come down from her car for a surprise performance upon discovering that the celebrant was Anjorin. It was also learnt that the services of Alabi were secured by fans of Anjorin in the Diaspora with a payment of N2.5m, which Alabi subsequently returned.

When asked if there were any prior issues that might have influenced Alabi’s refusal to perform, Anjorin clarified, “I have never had issues with her. In my live show, I stated some facts there. I have been to her concert before and I didn’t have an issue with her. I like Aunty Tope, she is my very good sister. What happened yesterday might have even been a mistake. We are human beings and nobody can tell what happened except her.”

Anjorin further explained that the conflict was not exactly between her and Alabi, but rather with the individuals who contracted Alabi for the event.
