Nationwide Curfew Now 12 Midnight To 4am - FG

Federal Government has announced that the long-running curfew across the country has now been relaxed to 12 midnight to 4am in the morning.

The FG had on May 4, 2020 imposed a nationwide curfew from 6pm to 8am. It later reviewed the timing to between 10pm and 4am.

Sani Aliyu, national coordinator of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19, has now announced the adjustment at a media briefing on Thursday, September 3.

He added that persons on essential services are exempted from the curfew hours, saying;

We are modifying the curfew to commence from 12 midnight to 4am nationwide, effective from 12:01 hours tonight. This does not apply to people on essential services and international travellers that might be returning from abroad.

Also, cinemas, gyms, and amusement parks have been directed to restart operations only at half capacity.

Aliyu added that event centres that provide outdoor spaces can also reopen but not indoor event centres, while bars and night clubs will remain closed.

The reopening of cinemas follows outcry over the continued closure despite the operation of schools and worship centres.

Many entertainment industry players took to social media and called for the reopening of cinemas across the country, just like worship centres, markets, restaurants, airports and other public places have given permission to start operations.
