RevolutionNow group in Osun State has staged a peaceful protest to agitate for economic and political policies that will relieve the plight of the masses, as Nigeria marks her 60th independence anniversary.
The protesters, who converged on the popular Freedom Park at the state capital, moved across many areas down to Olaiya Junction while major streets were also manned by police to prevent protests in the city.
Addressing reporters, they called on the government to committedly use the nation’s resources to revamp its infrastructure including the nation’s health and education sectors.
They condemned the spate of insecurity ocassioned by activities of herdsmen and insurgents, among others across the nation.
The protesters equally lamented that global indices on poverty rate in the nation is as a result of maladministration and government’s insensitivity to the plight of the masses.
The group submitted that capitalist and neo-liberal system cannot guarantee the masses the desired economic and political dividends except the nation adopts socialist system of government.
