A 26-year-old mother of one and a serving Corp member has been arrested alongside her husband for allegedly torturing their eight-year-old househelp, Osinakachukwu in Ebonyi state.
Agatha and her husband, Philip Iboko were said to have tied up the little girl for eating a part of N10 candy they bought for their two-year-old daughter, Doris.
The incident was recorded by a neighbour, who posted it online. In the video, Osinakachukwu was kept in the scorching sun with her legs and hands tied.
It took the intervention of two of their neighbours, Mr Chinedu and Mr Raymond, for the young girl to be released.
Agatha and Philip were subsequently arrested while Osinakachukwu was placed in the custody of the council Chairman of the Izzi LGA, Chief Paul Nwogha.
Prior to this incident, Agatha, who is serving with the ministry of Agriculture, Ebonyi State, had put up photos of her househelp and praised her for her “undying goodwill towards others” and for being a great caretaker for her daughter.
