Nigerian music stars, Stanley Omah Didia better known as Omah Lay and Temilade Openiyi known as Tems, have been arrested in Uganda few hours after a concert in the country.

The news of their arrest was made public by an assistant superintendent of police in the country identified as Luk Owoyesigyire via his Twitter page (@lukowoyesigyire)  on Sunday, December 13.

The singers performed at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd in Kampala.

The officer, who doubles as a police spokesperson, added that manager of the venue where the singer performed, Dungu Ivan and the events manager, Prim Kasana were also in custody.

In a different post, Owoyesigyire confirmed that Tems and her manager, Muyiwa Awomiyi, were also arrested.

Although the officer did not reveal full details about their arrests, reports on social media claim that the musicians were arrested following an outcry by Ugandan artistes who called out the police in their country.

They accused the local authorities of allowing foreign artistes hold events while the locals are denied over COVID-19 protocols.

As at Sunday, Uganda recorded 27,532 confirmed coronavirus cases, 9,826 recoveries and 221 deaths.

More details to come.
