Actress Tanya Roberts, known for the James Bond film “A View to a Kill” and the hit TV comedy “That ’70s Show”, has died at 65.
Her representatives confirmed to TMZ that the star passed away Sunday, January 3 after Tanya collapsed in her home on December 24 while taking her dogs for a walk.
She was hospitalised and placed on a ventilator but did not recover from the health issue that, according to her team, was not related to the coronavirus.
Tanya, née Victoria Leigh Blum, starred as Bond girl ‘Stacey Sutton’ alongside Roger Moore’s 007 in A View to a Kill (1985).
She appeared in a number of genre films and comedies throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, including 1979’s Racquet, 1982’s The Beastmaster, 1984’s Sheena: Queen of the Jungle and 1986’s Body Slam.
Tanya is perhaps best known for her role on That ’70s Show as Midge Pinciotti, mom to Laura Prepon’s character Donna.
Midge was out of the show in 2001 after the third season, and Tanya later explained that she left to care for her now-late husband Barry Roberts, who had fallen ill.
The actress returned to play Midge as a recurring character in the sixth and seventh seasons.
Her other notable TV work included joining the main cast of Charlie’s Angels for its final season that began in 1980, following the departures of original stars Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson.
She also made appearances on Vega$, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Silk Stalkings and Eve.
Tanya, who was born in the Bronx in New York City, started modeling and later ventured into acting with commercial work and live theatre.
Her successful modeling career included landing the cover of Playboy magazine for the October 1982 issue.
Her last appeared on in an episode of Showtime’s TV adaptation of Barbershop in 2005.
Her representatives told The Hollywood Reporter that Tanya is survived by her partner of 18 years Lance O’Brien and sister Barbara.
