National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has said 1,794,552 persons across the country have received COVID-19 vaccine since the nationwide rollout on March 5.
Vaccination has taken place in the 36 states of the federation and the federal capital territory (FCT).
According to an update published by NPHCDA, Saturday evening, Lagos, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, tops the list with 279,372 persons vaccinated, followed by federal capital territory (FCT) with 118,895 and Kano with 92,583.
The agency said two states have vaccinated more than 50 percent of their eligible population required for the first dose.
The states are Kwara with 104 percent and Lagos with 101 percent.
The development means that the country managed to administer an average of 25,275 doses daily.

Nigeria had received close to 4.5 million doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine — 3.94 million delivered via United Nations-led COVAX facility, while others are donations from India and private organisations.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has said the second dose of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines would soon be administered on eligible men and women who have received their first shots.

Dr Faisal Shuaib, Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, made this known during the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) briefing in Abuja.
Shuaib advised health workers, frontline workers aged 18 years and above and persons aged 50 years and above to visit any designated vaccination site to receive the vaccine free of charge.
He stated;
I want to remind you that the eligibility period between the first and second doses of the vaccine has been expanded from 12 weeks to between six to 12 weeks, in line with the scientific recommendation provided by the World Health Organisation’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE on immunization).
The PSC (Presidential Steering Committee) has approved the second dose of the Oxford-Astrazeneca vaccination in all states of the federation and the FCT.
