British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk on Aug.20 left his fans sad and divided on social media.

The defeat of Anthony Joshua dominated social media as fans sympathised and commended the boxer for his effort.

While Joshua’s fans drooled in the defeat, the news of another defeat to Nigerian-American mixed martial artiste, Kamaru Usman, filled the air.

Usman’s longtime reign as welterweight champion came to an end at the UFC 278 when Leon Edwards knocked him out in the final minute of their fight.

The “Nigerian Nightmare”, as Usman is popularly called, was less than 60 seconds away from defending his title until luck ran against him.

For Nigerians, it was a double loss as there was the great expectation from both fighters who were thought to be favourites before the fight.

Eedris Successful Surgery

On Tuesday, Eedris Abdul Kareem, a Nigerian veteran rapper, who recently had a kidney transplant, in an appreciation post on his Instagram page announced that his surgery was successful.

He said;

l am specifically giving Thanks and Praises to the Almighty God for my successful kidney transplant surgery over the weekend. May HIS Holy Name be Glorified forever and forever.

Words cannot express my love, devotion and commitment to my adorable, loving, supportive and compassionate wife, Yetunde, with whom God Has made my life complete…baby, I will always Love, cherish and adore you forever.

Funke Akindele’s 45th Birthday Celebrations

On Wednesday, Funke Akindele, Nigerian actress and running mate to the PDP governorship candidate in Lagos State celebrated her 45th birthday in style as she dazzled her fans with pictures on her Instagram page.

The icing on the cake was revealed when a video showing how her estranged husband, Abdulrasheed Bello, known as JJC Skillz, celebrated the actress.

Fans were left wondering as both celebrities had recently announced that they were going their separate ways.

JJC Skillz while reacting to the comments of fans said;

I think a lot of people are quite shocked to find out that I am human. To be honest, growing up in England and with my experience of having different baby mamas, the most important thing is the children.

Just focus on the children and let all the drama go, and most importantly have the attitude of gratitude. I and Funke had almost seven good years of lovely relationship so happy birthday to her, I wish her luck.

BNXN’s New Album

On Thursday, Daniel Benson, a Nigerian singer, popularly known as BNXN, topped the social media trend after he dropped his new album titled “Bad Since 97″.

BNXN, who was recently in the news for having an altercation with policemen in Lagos also took a dig at Nigerian singer, Ruger, after they both called themselves out on Twitter.

BNXN while promoting his new project, shared the album art and captioned it, “What if I, What if I, What if I…COOOKKKK”, which is obvious line from Ruger’s hit single ‘Girlfriend’.

Ruger, however, replied with a tweet saying “Get a solo hit. Then talk to me fatty bum bum.”

BNXN also replied, saying;

The project will ALWAYS be more important than the hit! Look at Burna Boy! That’s my yardstick, you think I wanna blow with 1/2 songs and I no fit come back ?? When he was dropping you didn’t call those songs hits.

Rema’s Upcoming Single With Selena Gomez

On Friday, Mavin signee, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, announced the release of a remix with Selena Gomez to his second single from his debut studio album, Rave & Roses, titled “Calm Down”.

Rema and Selena Gomez, however, announced their joint project after a video of the duo meeting backstage during his Rave & Roses World Tour began making the rounds on social media.
