Napoli is willing to deviate from the club compensation structure to retain Nigerian international Victor Osimhen in an effort to fend off interest from European teams and keep one of their prized assets for at least another season.

In order to keep Osimhen for another season, the freshly crowned Serie A winners are reportedly mulling a Cavani-style contract, according to Sunday’s edition of La Repubblica (as reported by Tutto Napoli).
The suggested strategy include promising the striker a significant pay rise as well as a transfer at the conclusion of the following season.
This approach would deviate from Napoli’s usual salary structure, which is capped at €3.5m net.
Osimhen’s exceptional performances and potential have prompted Napoli to consider this exception to their wage policy.

Osimhen could represent the exception to the rule of wages fixed €3.5m net. The scenario, however, cannot exclude a maxi offer. Napoli has set a very high price, around €150m. If the indecent offer were to arrive, it would be normal to make evaluations.
The news will be a major setback for potential bidders, particularly Chelsea, who are thought to have made the first move to sign Osimhen by putting forth a player-plus-cash offer.
The 24-year-old, who scored 23 league goals in 29 outings, was crucial to Napoli’s first championship in 33 years.
To retain their Scudetto title and make a serious run at the Champions League next season, the club is nonetheless desperate to hold onto the striker.
