“My Nigerian Symphony” is proof of Elpis Megalio’s dedication to honouring and advancing Nigerian handicraft.
Produced entirely in Nigeria, the line exhibits the rich cultural legacy of the country by skillfully fusing traditional materials and production techniques.
The collection includes a well-balanced combination of locally produced cotton and the renowned Aso Oke, both of which are expertly tied and dyed.
Elpis Megalio defies tradition by exhibiting 3D-printed pieces throughout the collection and utilising cutting edge technology.
One of the most notable items is a finely made corset that was 3D printed, giving the classic style a contemporary twist.
“My Nigerian Symphony” was inspired by the designer’s deep appreciation of classical music and its capacity to emote without the use of words.
The collection, which takes its cues from the expressiveness and flow of symphonies, is a visual depiction of the designer’s life story and strong bond with Nigeria.
Olufunke Afolabi, the visionary designer behind Elpis Megalio, said, “I wanted a collection with a symphony of colours that allowed the audience to see my love for my country, Nigeria, and the opportunities and lessons it has given me.”
