Following the abduction of six girls in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has assured the public of its commitment to securing their safe return.

In a statement released on Sunday via X, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi outlined ongoing efforts and stressed the importance of operational discretion.

“The Force Headquarters is diligently coordinating efforts to address this and prevent any further occurrence,” Adejobi stated, emphasizing that “all hands are on deck to rescue the victims.”

However, he acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation, explaining that “specific details are being kept confidential to avoid compromising ongoing operations.”

The statement highlights the NPF’s active engagement with key individuals involved in the rescue and investigation. The focus, Adejobi explains, is not just on apprehending perpetrators but also on intensifying efforts to secure the release of the girls still in captivity.

Recognizing the emotional toll on families, the police are also prioritizing open communication with relatives and loved ones. “The Police are encouraging open communication with their operatives to provide support, information, and assistance to mitigate the psychological warfare imposed by kidnappers,” the statement reads.

While the police refrain from disclosing specifics to protect ongoing operations, their public commitment to tackling the kidnapping and their emphasis on supporting affected families offer some solace. However, the lack of concrete information and the ongoing uncertainty about the girls’ safety remain a source of anxiety and concern for the community.

The coming days will be crucial as the NPF continues its efforts to secure the girls’ safe return. Transparent communication and updates on the progress of the investigation, while respecting operational constraints, will be critical in maintaining public trust and ensuring continued support for the police in their endeavors.

MDB had earlier reported that there was considerable outcry on Twitter which triggered the trend — #Najeebahandhersisters — after Nabeeha, a student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was murdered by kidnappers, whose location are currently unknown.
