Former Niger Delta militant Asari Dokubo has slammed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for allegedly “playing god” in the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Dokubo, a vocal figure in the region, criticized Wike’s actions as “dead on arrival” and warned President Bola Tinubu against marginalizing the Ijaw and Ikwerre people in Rivers State.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dokubo claimed that Tinubu had handed over control of Rivers and Bayelsa states to Wike, a move he deemed unfair.

“You took Rivers State and gave it to one man,” Dokubo said, referring to Wike’s perceived influence over the state.

Dokubo also commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara for increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N12 billion to N27 billion but alleged that Fubara initially had access to only N6 billion when he assumed office.

“The governor is being economical with the truth,” Dokubo said, implying that Fubara’s achievement was more significant than stated.

The political crisis in Rivers State has been escalating, with Wike and Fubara on opposite sides. Dokubo’s intervention adds a new dimension to the conflict, highlighting concerns about ethnic marginalization and political power struggles in the region.
