Victor Moses Loses Prestigious Award To Wanyama
Victor Wanyama of Tottenham Hotspurs has beaten Chelsea’s Victor Moses and Yaya Toure of the Ivory Coast to be named English Premier League African Player of the Month for January, Africanfootball.com writes.
The 25-year-old Kenyan international was superb in January with his club, marshaling the midfield with strength and skill as they surged up second in the league while maintaining their record as the team with the stingiest defence.
He was particularly impressive in Spurs’ 2-0 defeat of Chelsea at the turn of the year to halt Antonio Conte’s men in their strides.
Wanyama, who captains the Harambee Stars, last won the Premier League award in September 2015 when he was still a player with Southampton FC.
