Watch As Rihanna Accepts ‘Humanitarian Of The Year’ Accolade From Harvard University [Clip]
Rihanna has added one more accolade to her already decorated hat.
Last night, the BBHMM singer received Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year award on the university campus, in recognition of her many humanitarian projects which include building a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment facility in Barbados, and the amazing scholarship program for students from Caribbean countries attending U.S. colleges.
“So I made it to Harvard,” the Grammy-winner said in her acceptance speech. “Never thought I’d be able to say that in my life. But if feels good.“
The singer continued, “You don’t have to be rich to be a humanitarian. You don’t have to be rich to help somebody. You don’t gotta be famous. You don’t even have to be college-educated. I mean, I wish I was … especially today.“
In 2016, the singer launched the Clara Lionel Foundation, a non-profit through which she gave out scholarships to students. And weeks later, in August Rihanna was given the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards for her contributions to music.
Now, the powerful fashion icon who never went to college has received a prestigious honour from Harvard – the toast of all universities, and she says it feels really good.
