BREAKING! Belgium Police Arrest Main Suspect In Brussels Terror Attack
A prime suspect in yesterday’s Brussels bombings, Najim Laachraoui, has been arrested, according to Belgian reports.
He is believed to have been detained in the Anderlecht district of the city, according to newspaper DH.
Laachraoui is believed to be the third man seen at Brussels Airport along with suspected bombers Khalid and Brahim El Bakraoui.
Newspaper La Derniere Heure reported:
‘The third man in the images taken at Brussels airport was arrested this morning by the DSU (Belgian Federal Police’s Counter Terrorism and Swat Unit), according to our sources.
‘The federal prosecutor has not confirmed this information.’
They killed 34 people and injured nearly 200 when they detonated three bombs at the airport and on the city’s metro yesterday morning.
Police carried out raids into the night and circulated a photo of three men seen in Zaventem Airport suspected of involvement in Tuesday’s bombings.
TV station RTBF today said the brothers were known to police for past crimes, but nothing relating to terrorism.
The broadcaster said Khalid El Bakraoui had rented an apartment which was raided by police last week in an operation that led authorities to top Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam.
Last week, Belgian police said they were hunting for Laachraoui a suspected Abdeslam accomplice.
He is believed to have made the suicide vests used in the November attacks in Paris, in which 130 people were killed, according to a French police official who said Laachraoui’s DNA was found on all of them and in a Brussels apartment where they were made.
