The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it will adopt a distinct protocol for handling corps members with disabilities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Caroline Embu, director of information and public relations at the NYSC, said Olakunle Nafiu, director general (DG) of the scheme, spoke at the 2026 batch ‘A’ pre-orientation workshop in Jos, Plateau state.
Nafiu said the protocol will be implemented for PWDs starting from the orientation course till the completion of their service year.
He said the initiative is part of the scheme’s welfare strategies for corps members, focusing on dignity, inclusion and equal opportunity.

“It underscores our commitment to leaving no one behind and positioning the NYSC as a humane, progressive, and nationally responsive institution,” the statement reads.
“Equally crucial is using emotional intelligence and showing empathy in all interactions with corps members and camp officials.”
