To Avoid Problem, Speak Pidgin To Police Officers, Not Queen’s English – Yomi Shogunle To Nigerians
The Head of the Police Complaint Response Unit (CRU) Abayomi Shogunle has advised members of the public to speak pidgin English to police officers to avoid problems with them.
He made the statement on his twitter page while sharing a video where a the RRS Commander in Lagos State CP Tunji Disu was addressing some officers of the Force.
The senior police officer in his speech, told the officers to desist from killing innocent citizens and while speaking, switched to Pidgin English to make himself clearer to the officers.
Yomi Shogunle in his reaction to the video then wrote that it was advisable for citizens to communicate with police officers in colloquial English, which they understand better, instead of proper English which they may find hard to comprehend.
“Nice one . Lagos State will be calm if police chiefs in #Lagos do more of this.
For now, don’t go and be speaking Queen’s English with them on the road. For proper understanding talk to them in Pidgin, another way to avoid kasala” he wrote.
