In recent months, there has been a lot of attention, and focus on Nigeria and Africa as a whole. It seems to have started with the worldwide success of Black Panther movie in 2018, and was reawakened by Beyonce’s recent remake of Disney’s 1994 cartoon block buster Lion King, and the Lion King album which featured a lot of Nigerian stars.
The euphoria seems to have extended to the visit of even more international stars. Although many of them are not new to visiting Africa, this time around they visited with keener interest to explore the culture.
It would be recalled that last December, many of such stars like Boys II Men, Koffee, Future, Megan Thee Stallion and the most recently, Cardi B headlined several concerts in Nigeria. Of all these stars, however, the most impressive was Cardi B real name Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar , who not only visited the country to perform but decided to explore Lagos during her stay.
From exploring Lagos nightlife by visiting clubs, to shopping and even visiting and making donations to an orphanage, Cardi, 27, showed the world a different and positive side of Nigeria through her social media pages, which aroused even more interest from the international community.
Because of the great impression she left during her visit, many Nigerians, (including those previously indifferent) now have an affinity to her. And since she left, she has continuously been talking about Nigeria on a micro-blogging social platform, Twitter. A recent tweet about wanting to file for Nigerian citizenship caused a lot of excitement on the platform.

Cardi B then went ahead to tweet about her wanting to choose a Nigerian tribe, even asking Nigerians to choose a Nigerian name for her.

With Cardi‘s recent experience, it will be interesting to see if Lil Wayne will keep his promise of visiting, and if he does, whether or not he’d be as free, and as daring as Cardi B.
Only time will tell.
