JAMB Suspends Compulsory Use Of NIN For 2020 UTME Registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the suspension of the use of National Identification Number (NIN) for registration for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
While announcing this at a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said the decision was taken due to difficulties faced by candidates in the NIN registration.
He added that the suspension was also to address the technical challenges experienced at some centres.
The registrar, however, noted that JAMB will consider the use of NIMC for the 2021 exams.
A tweet on JAMB offical Twitter page further disclosed that candidate should only send their details to a code in order to create a profile.
NIN IS SUSPENDED FOR 2020 REGISTRATION. CANDIDATES ARE TO ONLY SEND THEIR NAMES TO 55019 TO CREATE PROFILE. NO NEED FOR NIN FOR 2020 REGISTRATION.

It could be recalled that in October, 2019, JAMB had announced that all prospective candidate must have the National Identification Number (NIN).
All Candidates wishing to take the 2020 UTME must have the National Identification Number (NIN). Prospective candidates are urged to visit the nearest @nimc_ng office for their capturing.
The Board would ONLY register candidates with NIN.

The board had earlier said the policy was to solve the challenges of multiple registrations among candidate, in order to reduce examination malpractice.
Unfortunately, the policy caused a heavy influx of candidates at National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) offices all over the country.
