Cameroon government has on March 6 diagnosed a French national who arrived in the country’s capital, Yaounde in February with coronavirus, making it the country’s first confirmed coronavirus case.

The health ministry in a statement said the 58-year-old man has been placed in isolation in a hospital.

In sub-Saharan Africa, Senegal has registered four cases, while South Africa and Nigeria have one case each since the outbreak emerged in December in China.

Meanwhile, Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi in a briefing on March 5 said two passengers onboard the Turkish Airlines with the coronavirus infected Italian were still missing.

In his statement, he said;

As regards the number of people we are trying to identify, as of the close of work on Wednesday, we have 15 people who are yet to be identified. Out of the 15, we have been able to identify 13 of them as of Thursday.

That means we are looking for two more people onboard the flight that brought the Italian, excluding the 65 who have travelled out of Lagos.

The Commissioner added that;

If I can’t find those two people between now and tomorrow (Friday), I will be asking the press to help me put the information about them in the media. I’m trying to hold back their information for the sake of privacy,” he said.
