A new case of Coronavirus has been recorded in Warri, Delta State, bringing to five the total number of cases in the state including one death.
According to SaharaReporters, the new case was recorded on Tuesday but yet to be forwarded to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for collation and announcement.
Speaking in confidence, a medical doctor, who is among health personnel managing COVID-19 cases in Warri, disclosed that the new case is a female and currently undergoing treatment at the Warri Central Hospital.
He said;
It’s possible she may have contacted the virus from Lagos where she went to visit her boyfriend. She returned to Delta State just before the lockdown started here.
According to SaharaReporters, there was no response from the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Mordi Ononye, regarding the subject as at press time.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Government has confirmed the first case of COVID-19.
Governor of the state, Ahmadu Fintinri who announced this on Wednesday said the victim is a returnee from Kano.
The man, who has been on self-isolation since returning to the state from Kano said he was informed of his infection of the virus on Wednesday morning by the COVID-19 Containment Committee in Adamawa.
He said;
I got a call from the COVID-19 Containment Committee this morning, informing me that my result showed I’m positive for the virus.
According to NCDC latest statistics on Coronavirus cases reported on Tuesday night, there are 782 confirmed cases in Nigeria, 197 discharged and 25 deaths.
