Nigeria’s Coronavirus infection toll has surpassed 1,000 after Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed 114 new cases, it has emerged.
This was made known on Friday night by NCDC in its daily Coronavirus report via its official Twitter handle.
According to the centre, 80 of the new cases were reported in Lagos, 21 in Gombe, 5 in FCT, 2 in Zamfara, 2 in Edo and one each in Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna and Sokoto.

In a follow up tweet, NCDC revealed the breakdown of the cases per state from the worst-hit to least-hit states.

NCDC added that;
As at 24th April, Nigeria has recorded #COVID19 confirmed cases in 27 states and the Federal Capital Territory
In the last 24 hours,number of new cases increased by 114. Number of deaths increased by 1

The centre had on Thursday night reported that there were 981 confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in Nigeria, 197 discharged patients and 31 deaths.
With the new cases, there are now 1095 Coronavirus cases, 208 discharged patients and 32 deaths across the country.
Meanwhile, Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has said some states are yet to submit samples for test to know if they have COVID-19 cases.
Ihekweazu said this during a television interview on Channels TV on Friday.
According to him, NCDC expects a certain number of tests to be conducted for each state and so far 26 out of the 36 states in addition to the federal capital territory (FCT) have submitted samples.
Ihekweazu said while the NCDC is improving on its testing capacity for COVID-19, it is worrisome that samples have not been sent by some states yet.
