As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather mo­mentum, the African Dem­ocratic Congress (ADC) has raised an urgent alarm over a fresh wave of online fraud exploiting the party’s name, warning Nigerians to steer clear of fake digital registra­tion platforms.

In a statement that placed caution before enthusiasm, the party declared that it has not opened any official online membership regis­tration portal, countering claims circulating on web­sites, social media pages and messaging platforms.

The warning, issued on Sunday in Abuja and shared on X by the party’s Nation­al Publicity Secretary, Bo­laji Abdullahi, urged party members, supporters and the general public to disre­gard every link or website purporting to register new ADC members.

“At this time, ADC has not launched any public online membership regis­tration link.

“The party is currently working on its official reg­istration and verification platform, which will be for­mally announced through verified party channels in due course,” the statement reads.

The party cautioned that fraudsters are increasingly deploying sophisticated tac­tics to lure unsuspecting Ni­gerians, stressing that ADC will never solicit payments or sensitive personal infor­mation through unofficial channels.

It further outlined clear safety guidance to the pub­lic, stating, “Do not click on suspicious or unverified links. Do not share uncon­firmed registration mes­sages.

“Do not submit person­al information, including name, phone number, PVC details, BVN, or payment de­tails, to any unverified plat­form. Report any suspicious links to the ADC through of­ficial party communication channels.

“All legitimate ADC an­nouncements, including the launch of the official membership registration platform, will only be com­municated through verified ADC platforms and formal statements from the party leadership,” the statement added.

The ADC said it is al­ready taking steps to con­front the situation, assuring that it will deploy all neces­sary measures to protect Nigerians and safeguard the integrity of the party from digital manipulation.

Party officials noted that the latest alert is part of a recurring pattern, as crim­inal elements attempt to exploit heightened political interest ahead of the 2027 polls by impersonating po­litical institutions.

The ADC recalled that in July 2025, it had similarly disowned a fake list of state chairmen and issued warn­ings over unauthorised on­line registration schemes al­legedly designed to defraud the public.

At the time, Abdullahi had described the schemes as deliberate attempts to swindle unsuspecting indi­viduals, urging Nigerians to always verify party-related information through cred­ible and recognised ADC sources, including his offi­cial account.

With political activities expected to intensify in the months ahead, the party reiterated its call for vigi­lance, stressing that caution remains the strongest de­fence against digital scams masquerading as political mobilisation.
