Nvidia has achieved a significant milestone that highlights the rapid development of artificial intelligence: it is now the world’s first publicly traded firm to reach a market valuation of $4 trillion.
Tech behemoths Apple and Microsoft are left in its wake as Nvidia achieved this historic milestone on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, solidifying its position as the most valuable corporation in the world.
Shares of Nvidia surged to an all-time high of $164.42 during early trading on Wednesday, bringing the company’s market capitalization to a brief peak of $4.009 trillion before closing just below that threshold.
This astounding valuation demonstrates Wall Street’s profound belief in AI’s revolutionary potential, with Nvidia’s chips serving as the foundation for this technological revolution.

Analysts say Nvidia’s success cements it as the backbone of the AI revolution. “There is one company in the world that is the foundation for the AI revolution, and that is Nvidia,” wrote Wedbush Securities’ Dan Ives. He predicts Microsoft, currently valued around $3.77 trillion, will also cross the $4 trillion threshold later this summer.
In June 2023—just over two years ago—Nvidia was worth over $1 trillion. Its quick rise to $4 trillion in such a short time span surpasses the growth paths of Microsoft and Apple, the only other firms in the United States with market capitalizations greater than $3 trillion.
Luxury phone and gadget maker Apple currently has a market valuation of about $3.1 trillion, while Microsoft is in second place with a market valuation of about $3.75 trillion.
