The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governors for what it described as baseless attacks on the outcome of recent bye-elections, accusing the opposition of seeking to mislead Nigerians.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party dismissed the communique released by the PDP Governors’ Forum after its meeting in Zamfara State, where the governors accused the APC of lacking vision and engaging in undemocratic practices.
Morka said the PDP had become a party in “steep decline,” weakened by internal crises and increasingly rejected by Nigerians. He argued that instead of addressing its internal divisions, the PDP had resorted to making “frivolous allegations” against the APC.
“It is laughable for PDP governors, representing a party crippled by intractable crises and reduced to a shadow of its old self, to accuse the APC of undemocratic conduct,” the statement read. “The PDP has collapsed into ruins and remains rejected by Nigerians. Its governors should focus on reviving their party rather than spreading falsehoods about ours.”
The APC cited its performance in the August 16 bye-elections held in 12 states as evidence of growing public confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
It further accused PDP governors of failing to deliver effective governance in their states despite receiving what it described as record federal allocations under Tinubu. Morka noted that more than ₦2 trillion had been shared with states by July 2025, the highest in Nigeria’s history, yet, according to him, several PDP-led states continued to “perform disgracefully.”
“Nigeria will not return to the dark years of PDP rule when many states were bankrupt and unable to pay salaries,” the statement added.
