The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has applauded celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her ongoing bid to set a new Guinness World Record with the preparation of the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

Idris, represented by the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, described the attempt as a fresh demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence during a visit to the event venue at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, on Friday.

Baci, who gained international recognition in 2023 after breaking the record for the longest cooking marathon with a 93-hour feat, is now attempting a new milestone using a six-metre-wide specially designed pot.

“The Federal Government commends Hilda Baci’s extraordinary effort in once again putting Nigeria on the global stage. Her drive, perseverance, and pursuit of greatness reflect the resilient Nigerian spirit admired worldwide,” Idris said.

The minister further praised Baci’s preparation, discipline, and adherence to hygiene standards, noting that her professionalism exemplifies the quality and integrity associated with Nigerian excellence. He pledged government support for initiatives that highlight Nigeria’s creativity and cultural heritage on the global stage.

Idris encouraged the young Nigerians who gathered at the venue to emulate Baci’s commitment and hard work, expressing hope that her attempt would inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.

On behalf of President Bola Tinubu, he wished Baci success in her endeavour, stressing that her achievement would be celebrated as a collective national victory.
