Gov Lawal rules out defection to APC, ADC

The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Wednesday dismissed rumours of his planned switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The governor. who featured on a Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, said he has no intention to join the APC or the opposition coalition’s newly adopted platform, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“First of all, I’m glad that you said a rumour that APC, ADC and whatever political parties are calling on me to join their party,” he stated.

“And I made it clear that I am a PDP card-carrying member and I am still in PDP, I have no intention of going anywhere.

“So, what you heard is a rumour but I am still in PDP and have no intention of going anywhere for now.”

Lawal also revealed he has a very good relationship with President Bola Tinubu’.

He was however silent when asked if he would support the President’s re-election bid in 2027.

“Lets see how events will unfold, there is still time to 2027, we still have two years down the line.

“So, I don’t think politics should be the main issue right now, I think we should focus on governance,” the governor stated.
