Judge hands Diddy more than four years in prison for prostitution-related crimes

In a high-profile ruling on Friday, music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months (4 years, 2 months) in federal prison after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals to engage in prostitution.

The conviction follows a July 2025 verdict in which Combs was found guilty under the Mann Act for arranging interstate travel for sex workers. He was acquitted of more serious charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

Judge Arun Subramanian, who presided over the case in Manhattan federal court, also levied a fine of US$500,000 and imposed five years of supervised release following his prison term.

During the sentencing hearing, Combs addressed the court emotionally, apologising to his victims, acknowledging past misconduct, and expressing remorse. His defence team had sought a lighter sentence, arguing his victims were consensual partners and pointing to his struggles with substance abuse.

Prosecutors, in contrast, had recommended a much harsher sentence of over 11 years, citing a pattern of abuse, coercion, and violence across Combs’ relationships and activities.

Combs has been held in custody since his arrest in September 2024 and will receive credit for time already served in prison while awaiting this sentence.
