The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has held a strategic meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he presented key priorities of his administration centred on security, infrastructure and stronger partnership with the Federal Government.
This was contained in a statement signed and released on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa.
Yusuf’s meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday came amid growing rumours and speculation about his possible defection to the All Progressives Congress.
The Kano State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, had on Monday said Yusuf might likely receive his APC electronic membership card today (Tuesday) when he returns from Abuja.
Abbas made the disclosure while addressing ad hoc staff at a training programme on the party’s e-registration ahead of the flag-off of the exercise in the state.
The statement said the meeting, though closed-door, was used to formally brief the President on pressing challenges and opportunities in Kano, particularly the worsening insecurity in some local government areas.
He informed President Tinubu about the recent tragic killing of a housewife and her children, stressing the need for decisive federal support to strengthen security operations and protect innocent citizens.
“The governor highlighted the role of the Kano State Neighbourhood Watch Corps in complementing security agencies and called for deeper collaboration with federal security institutions.
“Governor Yusuf also discussed Kano’s development agenda, with special focus on mega infrastructure projects,” the statement said.
