Nigerian Govt launch ‘RenewHER’ to boost women’s health, economic empowerment

The Federal Government has concluded plans to strengthen women’s health while advancing economic equity across the country through a new initiative, RenewHER.

The initiative is designed to close persistent gender gaps that have left many women disadvantaged in both healthcare and financial participation.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women’s Health, Adanna Steinacker, said by linking health with economic empowerment, RenewHER is positioned to address these overlapping challenges in a coordinated way.

According to Steinacker, the programme will not only expand access to quality healthcare but also create avenues for women to thrive economically.

This, she said, was part of a broader effort to foster inclusive growth, reduce inequality, and ensure that women are equipped to contribute fully to national development.

“RenewHER is more than an initiative. It is a national call to action to redefine the future of women’s health and economic equity in Nigeria,” she said in a statement on Tuesday.

Explaining how the initiative, Steinacker said RenewHER, which stands for Health, Equity, and Reform, is a data-driven, tech-enabled, and financially intelligent strategy designed to revolutionise women’s health across Nigeria.

According to her, the initiative will serve as the country’s central coordinating platform for women’s health, mobilising public, private, and civil society actors to co-invest in scalable, community-driven solutions.

The special assistant said the RenewHER Launch Gala & Awards Night would be held at the Statehouse Banquet Hall, Abuja, adding that the plan is under the Presidential Women’s Health Transformation Initiative led by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women’s Health.

At the Gala, she noted that guests will witness the unveiling of the ‘Women’s Health Nigeria’ Digital Media & Communications Hub, a powerful national platform for health advocacy, public health education, and storytelling.

“With the Women’s Health Nigeria Hub and Magazine, we are building a movement that will transform policy, empower communities, and inspire the next generation of health champions,” Steinacker said.
