Los Angeles played host to the 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards last night, with The Studio, Adolescence, and The Pitt emerging as the evening’s biggest winners. The ceremony highlighted the growing dominance of streaming platforms while also honoring established network favorites, including a posthumous recognition for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which was recently cancelled.
Apple TV+’s The Studio led the comedy categories, securing Best Comedy Series alongside acting and writing awards for Seth Rogen and his collaborators. Netflix’s Adolescence impressed in the limited series field, winning Best Limited or Anthology Series and multiple acting and directing prizes. Meanwhile, HBO Max’s The Pitt clinched Best Drama Series, with Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa taking home top honors in acting categories.
Other shows also made their mark. HBO Max’s Severance earned a major acting award for Britt Lower and supporting recognition for Tramell Tillman. Hacks maintained its strong run in comedy, with Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder receiving honors. The Penguin added to HBO Max’s tally with Cristin Milioti’s Best Actress win in the limited series category. NBC’s The Traitors claimed Outstanding Reality Competition Program, while HBO Max’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver once again triumphed in the scripted variety category.
