“What An Incredible Honour!”-Leonardio Dicarprio As He Leads The Pack Of Winners At 2016 #GodenGlobes As Best Actor In A Drama+Full List Of Winners

Look of Victory: Leonardo Dicarprio

The 73rd Golden Globes  has to be my favourite in recent years.

Why? My best actor Leonardo Dicarprio was recognised this time for his remarkable talent and went home with the best actor gong, one of the biggest awards of the night for the movie ‘The Revenant.’

I’m so happy for Leonardo because this win  makes him the front runner for the Oscars next month, which he is nominated in the same category for Best Actor.

I think he is one of the not too many round actors who is unbelievably talented but under appreciated as far as awards are concerned. He is also  one of the very few stars that if I ever meet, I’d TOTALLY fan out for, with no shame, lol. This is how much I love Leonardo Dicarprio and as an award buffI’m elated he worn.

When Leornardo, 41, was named Best Actor, he was visibly emotional as he took the stage. He said:

‘What an incredible honor,’ he began. ‘Wow, that meant a lot.’
‘To the other fantastic performances in this category, you guys were incredible,’ he added graciously.
‘Two years ago we were immersed in nature [during filming]. This movie was about trust and no one was more deserving of our trust than our director. The depths to which he and the entire crew went to make this film were incredible.’

Dicarprio’s  win really gives me hope. Maybe next month at the Oscars, he will win his much deserved and long overdue Oscar.

Total domination: Alejandro González Iñárritu was awarded the gong for Best Director for The Revenant which also got the best movie gong

The Revenant swept the winners board at The 73rd annual Golden Globes including the biggest award of the night as it was named the Best Picture Drama, beating out Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, Room, and highly touted Spotlight. It also won best director.

It gets even better.

Tara P Henson

Taraji P. Henson won Best Actress in a TV Drama for Empire. As much as I wanted her to, I really had my doubt that she would win because awards hardly ever translate to most popular or most liked by fans, and the category was also keenly contested. However Taraji won, and I think its a long over due award for all her years in acting.

When she climbed the stage to receive her award she said:

‘Cookies for every tonight!’ She cheered once onstage. ‘My treat.’
‘I mean who knew that playing an ex con would take me all around the globe? It just goes to show… it was Cookie who spent 17 years in jail for selling crack!’
Taraji then refused to cut her speech short: ‘“Please wrap!” Wait a minute. I waited 20 years for this. My fans been praying for this. You gotta give me time. Thank you for believing in me! My beautiful boys who play my sons. I am taking this home for the entire Empire. Terrence Howard I am nothing without you. Cookie is nothing without Lucious.”

Very happy for her.

Emotional, Lady Gaga couldn’t believe she won when she was called as winner

Also, Lady Gaga won her first Golden Globes for best supporting actress in a limited series or TV movie and she sure looked the part.

She was  moved to tears after she was announced the winner  for American Horror Story: Hotel.
Taking to the stage, she said: ‘This is one of the greatest moments in my life. I just have to thank Ryan Murphy, Thank you to my wonderful cast. You are my family. I could name the entire cast…because of you I was able to shine.’
Gaga then admitted: ‘I wanted to be an actress before I wanted to be a singer. But music worked first I guess.’

My excitement will have doubled however if game of  Thrones or Narcos won awards in the big categories but still, it was over all a beautiful award ceremony . I hope organisers of awards in Nigeria especially ‘Headies’ and “African Magic viewers choice awards ‘ will learn  from this and strive to be better and leave mediocrity behind.
