The MTV Video Music Awards is an annual ceremony in celebration of the music video medium. 

Presented by the cable channel each year at the end of summer, it’s often hailed as the ‘Super Bowl for youth’ due to its mass appeal to younger audiences.

This year’s award was held at the  Madison square garden and had many alist celebrities  in attendance.

Performances

The shoe featured performances from Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande, Britney Spears and G-Eazy, Rihanna and chain smokers .

The best performance of the night came from Beyoncè who seems to have brought her visual album ‘Lemonade’ to the stage. Rihanna also gave a good show as she performed 4 times during the event. 

There was a lot of anticipation for Britney Spears who was performing on the MTV stage after 9 years but her performance was very lack luster especially comparing it to Beyonce and even Rihanna who had lit up the stage.

Rihanna also got the Michael Jackson vanguard award at the age of 28. The award was presented by Drake,  who during his presentation speech said he had loved her since he was  22. Photos below:
