Snap Chat Introduces Hi-tech Glasses With Built In Cameras, Changes Name

Photo/video messaging app Snapchat has launched  hi-tech sunglasses with a built-in video cameras

The gadget, simply called Spectacles, is expected to be on sale this year for £100.


They record ten-second clips on a tiny camera, which are sent to the Snapchat app via wifi or Bluetooth.

Snapchat also announced it is being renamed Snap Inc.


The latest wearable technology comes just a year after the failure of Google Glass, which delivered news, messages and calls directly to a user’s field of view.

Describing the latest app on its website, a Snapchat statement said:


 “Spectacles connect directly to Snapchat via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and transfer your memories directly into the app in our brand new circular video format.
“Circular video plays full screen on any device, in any orientation, and captures the human perspective with a 115-degree field of view. We can’t wait for you to see it!”
