A new era has begun in Benin, Edo State as the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness, Eheneden Erediauwa, ascends the throne of his fore fathers as the 39th Oba of Benin. He succeeds his late father, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolopkolo, Oba Erediauwa.
Prince Erediauwa was crowned at about 2am on Thursday by the Usama N’ Ihiron also known as the Edion led by Chief Oliha.
Other members of the Edion are Edohen, Ezomo, Ero, Eholo N’ Ire, Oloton and Edaiken.
The crowning was done at a private ceremony inside the Usama Palace, a temporary building erected for the coronation ceremony.
Meanwhile many important dignitaries are present at the on going coronation.
Edo state governor-elect; Mr Godwin Obaseki here, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, APC National Chairman; Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and governor Adams Oshiomhole, Ooni of Ife are some of the dignitaries who stormed Benin Kingdom to celebrate the coronation of new Oba Eheneden Erediauwa.
