Passengers had to scramble for their dear lives as they narrowly escaped being roasted alive when a luxurious bus belonging to the Young Shall Grow Transport Company heading to Yobe State from Onitsha caught fire. As evidenced by pictures that has since been floating around online, the bus was burnt beyond recognition but fortunately, no life was lost, as the passengers hurriedly jumped off through the windows.

However, all attempts to rescue the goods aboard the vehicle proved abortive as the vehicle was reportedly carrying some gas cylinders which further fueled the burning inferno.

The unit commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Justin Bosah, who confirmed the incident, said the situation could not be controlled because the vehicle had no fire extinguisher. He urged drivers to always carry fire extinguishers.
One of the passengers who, spoke to AbsRadio said they alerted the driver when they saw smoke emanating from the back of the vehicle but he did not take it serious.
A Nigerian soldier, Nonso, who was on his way to Maiduguri, Borno State took to Instagram to recount how he survived by jumping out through the window of the car.

“Thank God for saving me.young shall grow vehicle I boarded to Maiduguri got caught up with fire and burnt into ashes .I had to jump from the window to a safe place.

Glory be to God no life was lost today… Our transporters really need to start paying attention to the state of vehicles they use in transporting human lives.
