Toke Makinwa may be paying the N100m she doesn’t have if she loses the lawsuit her ex-husband filed against her.
According to The Cable, the popular wellness coach, Maje Ayida, whose lawyers previously served Makinwa a letter of demand, has slammed her with a massive lawsuit over her controversial book, On Becoming.
Recall that Maje Ayida employed the services of a British law firm which, in conjunction with a Nigerian law firm, wrote to Toke Makinwa, demanding that she retract On Becoming because ig errornously painted him in dark light. Ayida’s lawyers said that the copies of the retrieved books be destroyed, and she must cancel its distribution and issue a full page apology to him in 3 national dailies.
Well, Toke Makinwa ignored of all of this because she jetted off to Ghana and later, London, to hold book readings.
Now, Maje Ayida, who says the book contains defamatory words that hurt his brand, has filed a suit before the Lagos High Court.
He is asking for N100m in damages.
The Cable adds that the suit was filed on February 2 by his Nigerian lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) of Pinheiro LP. Makinwa’s publisher, Kachifo Limited, was named in the lawsuit.
