Cristiano Ronaldo took his international tally to 70 goals as reigning European champions Portugal beat Hungary 3-0 to stay in second spot behind Switzerland in group B of the World Cup qualifiers.

Porto striker Andre Silva opened the scoring after 30 minutes, converting a pass from Raphael Guerreiro for his fifth goal in six games for Portugal, before ballon d’Or holder, Ronaldo took over the show with a brace that takes his international tally up to 70.

Switzerland maintained their 100 per cent record with a fifth win in as many games, beating Latvia 1-0 at home.

The Netherlands suffered a setback in their race to Russia 2018 after slumping to a shock 2-0 defeat to Bulgaria.

The loss left the Dutch six points behind group A leaders France, who beat Luxembourg 3-1 with under fire Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud grabbing a double either side of an Antoine Griezmann penalty.

Belgium needed a goal two minutes from time by Romelu Lukaku to salvage a 1-1 draw against nine-man Greece who went ahead through Benfica striker Kostas Mitroglou.

Roberto Martinez’s men stay two points clear in group H, although the team lost their 100 percent record in the process.

Earlier on Saturday, Sweden hammered Belarus 4-0 to move to 10 points in group A, three behind France, with Emil Forsberg grabbing a brace.

Bosnia-Herzegovina also went on a goal spree with a 5-0 win over minnows Gibraltar, who have now conceded 22 goals in five games in group H.
