Kylie Jenner becomes highest paid celebrity in the world
Reality TV star and makeup mogul, Kylie Jenner has topped Forbes Magazine’s annual list of the highest-paid celebrities in the world.

According to the publication’s Celeb 100 list, the 22-year-old earned $590m (£466m) in the last 12 months, most of which is credited to beauty conglomerate Coty buying a 51 percent stake of her beauty brand, Kylie Cosmetics, in 2019.

It would be recalled that Jenner, the half-sister of Kim Kardashian, made the headlines last week when Forbes stripped the star of her billionaire status, in a report that accused her of ‘inflating the size and success of her business’.

Jenner responded saying that she was unbothered about the report and that Forbes’ estimate is based on ‘a number of inaccurate statements and unproven assumptions.’

Now, in its Celeb 100 list, the publication has revealed that despite its row with Jenner over her billionaire status, she still made more money than any other celebrity in the world in 2019.

Jenner’s brother-in-law, Kanye West, comes second in the list, with an estimated $170 million (£134m) in earnings, much of it from his deal with Adidas for his Yeezy sneaker brand.

Tennis champion Federer took third place after West with an estimated $106.3 million earning credited to endorsement deals with the likes of Japanese clothing company Uniqlo and watch maker Rolex.

He is followed by soccer stars Cristiano Ronaldo ($105 million), Lionel Messi ($104 million).

Then Tyler Perry ($97 million), Neymar ($95.5 million), Howard Stern ($90 million), LeBron James ($88.2 million) and Dwayne Johnson ($87.5 million).

Newcomers this year includes ‘Hamilton’ creator Lin-Manuel Miranda ($45.5 million) and musician Billie Eilish ($53 million), who at age 18 is the youngest of the Celebrity 100.

Forbes said the Celebrity Top 100 earned a combined $6.1 billion before taxes and fees, but with a $200 million drop from 2019, due to effect of the coronavirus pandemic on global economy.

Forbes compiled the list by estimating pre-tax earnings from June 2019-June 2020, before deducting fees for managers, based on data from Nielsen, touring trade publication Pollstar, movie database IMDB, as well as interviews with industry experts and many of the celebrities themselves.
