‘What About Lola Rae?’ - Nigerians Ask As Davido Announces Plan To Sign ‘First Female Artiste‘ To DMW Label Davido has announced that his record label – Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) – is about to sign its first female artiste.

He made this known in a statement released via his official Twitter handle on Friday afternoon, which reads;

Boutta (I’m about to) sign my first female Artist!!! It’s boutta be litt!!!!! [sic]

This has however come as a shock to many fans of the singer, as Davido in 2016 signed Nigerian-born British-Ghanaian artist, Lola Rae as the first female act of DMW.

The 30BG boss himself announced this via his Twitter handle back in 2016, which reads;

LOLA RAE WELCOME TO DMW!!!!! 1ST LADY!!!.

Lola Rae, born Rachel Akosua Funmilola Garton, shot to limelight upon the release of her debut single “Watch My Ting Go”, which earned her a nominee spot in the “Most Promising Female Act to Watch” category at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Her ground-breaking single “One Time” also made waves across the country. She dropped “Biko”, a song she featured DMW boss, Davido few days before she was signed.

However, the new announcement has since left fans asking questions on social media, wondering if and when the deal with Lola Rae fell through.

Some fans claim she was signed to HKN Music which is owned by Davido’s cousin, B-Red and co-owned by the singer and not DMW, as while thought.

Although, this is in contrast to Davido’s tweet in 2016 where he stated that she was signed to DMW.
