Lawyer Drags Femi Falana To International Criminal Court Over Alleged Role In #EndSARS Protest, Seeks N2bn FineProminent lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana has been dragged to the International Criminal Court (ICC) by an organisation, Make Nigeria Better Initiative (MNBI) over #EndSARS protest.

The organisation accused the Senior Advocate of Nigeria of allegedly instigating the #EndSARS, claiming that his role during the protest led to the deaths of many Nigerians.

The complaint filed by Joseph Nwaegbu, Esq. a Senior Associate of Pathfind Attorneys on behalf of MNBI and dated November 4, 2020, was addressed to Madame Fatou Bensouda, ICC Prosecutor.

He claimed that the protesters were responsible for the murder of about 22 police officers in different parts of the country.

Nwaegbu urged the ICC to investigate Falana and compel him to pay $2 billion as punitive damages for causing death, destruction of properties and all other things caused during the protest.

He claimed that the role played by Falana before, during and after what observers described as “the mother of all protests in Nigeria” was not only ignoble but criminal.

The group in their lawsuit, also accused Falana of having maintained antagonistic posture against Nigeria’s security forces, especially the military ever since the country returned to democracy.

The petition comes few weeks after the human rights activist announced that he and other lawyers are compiling evidence to ensure the trial of the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai before the ICC
